‘The Motion That Makes Us’. Developed and delivered with Ebor Studio for Rochdale Fab Youth Arts Festival.

The Motion That Makes Us was a cross-disciplinary exhibition co-produced with eight young people from Rochdale, exploring themes of place, memory and the passage of time through photography, sound and textiles. Initially commissioned for Rochdale's FAB Festival, the project culminated in a public exhibition at Gallery FRANK (Ebor Studio), alongside a newly commissioned film documenting the creative process.

As the photography facilitator, I guided participants in developing their own visual responses to Rochdale, encouraging them to explore personal objects, changing landscapes and everyday spaces as a way of reflecting on memory, identity and belonging. Working alongside artists specialising in sound and textiles, participants experimented across disciplines while developing confidence in their own creative voice.

The resulting exhibition brought together photography, sound and textile works that explored how the past continues to shape the present. Through collaboration, experimentation and shared storytelling, the project offered young people the opportunity to engage with Rochdale's heritage while contributing their own perspectives to its evolving cultural narrative.
